Grim reminders of her past
Some are silvery white
Some still pink and tender
People tell her to cover them up
'no one wants to know the ugly truth'
But to her, their symbolism
Is of beauty
Because if he hadn't come along,
She wouldn't have these scars
Because in order for scars to form
Healing needs to take place
And as everyone knows
The wounds of a cadaver don't heal
Those ugly marks along her body
Are the badges of a survivor
The beauty of the broken

Another creative writing assignment... we were given the word 'ugly' to write a poem about... but i thought a juxtaposition of both the ugly and beautiful side of the scars would be... more... well... more... but ya... hope you like
